Philadelphia?

Brotherly love? I have 4 brothers. Technically they're all half-brothers, as they sprung from my parents' first marriages. And I have three sisters ( also halfies) as well. None of us are very close. I didn't grow up with any of them, just met them along the way.  But regardless of that, I'm sitting here in my brother's home. He and his lady invited my daughter and I to join them and their children on their adventure to Destin, FL next weekend. We'll stay on the beach, in a condo. Very cool.

Here's the thing. My brother and I have hugely different opinions on many things, and we're not supposed to talk about any of that. We're just supposed to focus on the fun in the moment. He'll do so by drinking many beers till his inhibitions fade enough to get his mouth running. And I guess I'll just stay quiet. He doesn't want me to push my beliefs or opinions on him or his family, so I'll just suck it up, and learn what I can, by watching him in this strange reliving of my childhood with my own drunk dad. The circular , rhetorical loops of "am I right?'", "what did I tell ya?" and the like are eerily similar to my memory pool. I'm glad not to be the drunken dad. I'll be happy to learn from this angle. What a blessing.

I quit smoking cigarettes a week ago today, and this interpersonal journey is quite the test of my will to accept, learn and grow. My will is strong. I do love my brother. I can talk about the weather for another week, or so.  What's so hard about that? I'll be back in Asheville, with all my soul-sisters soon enough.  And before I get home, I have a date with the water at the Gulf Coast. She'll certainly have some inspiration for me.

You go sister!  Congratulations on the freedom from smoking as well.

Just keep vibrating as the beautiful person that you are, and the universe will work out the rest with your brother.  :)

Say hello to the ocean for me.  And go and stand it in often.  It will bring you to peace when the inward weather gets stormy.  :)

Hooray for inspiration and much love,

Di

Congratulations on quitting to smoke!

One giant step towards self-love. Yes, peruse the ocean's power to help out whenever you get tempted, it's got plenty to offer all of us, no need to worry that you'd use it up or that you don't deserve the help :)

Can ya switch that to “And go and stand 'in it' often.”  ?

Yay!  Feedback makes me giddy! I'm so stoked to be smokeless! Thank you both for the kudos. It's all good. So, so, SOOO good.

And I'll give your best to the water, Di. She does love it when you stand in her often!

Blessed Be **carrie**
